Toyota Motor Corporation Australia Announces Senior Leadership Changes

Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) has today announced senior leadership changes, effective 1 January, 2026.

Sean Hanley, currently Vice President National Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations, will become a Senior Executive Advisor and remain director and Board Member of Revolution Software Services in a part-time capacity. Throughout Mr Hanley’s impressive 37-year career at TMCA, he has held crucial senior leadership positions across Sales, Marketing, Franchise Development, Aftersales, Regional Offices across Australia and Lexus Australia Operations. Mr Hanley has been instrumental in driving TMCA’s position as the most trusted automotive brand in the country.

John Pappas, currently Chief Executive of Lexus Australia, will move into the role of Toyota’s Vice President National Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations. Mr Pappas’ tenure at Lexus Australia saw the luxury brand surpass 15,000 sales in a single year for the first time in its 35-year history in Australia. Mr Pappas has been a driving force behind the iconic Lexus Melbourne Cup partnership, which was extended earlier this year until 2027.

Jack Hobbs will move from the position of Vice President, Quality & Aftersales, TPS and New Business Solutions Operations to become the Chief Executive of Lexus Australia. Mr Hobbs has had an extensive career in Manufacturing, Quality, Organisational Capability, National Sales, Regional Operations and People and Culture since joining Toyota in 1989.

Scott Thompson will be returning from his assignment at Toyota Great Britain to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) for TMCA. Mr Thompson joined TMCA in 2003 where he held multiple roles within the organisation.  His experience includes global roles in the US and his most recent role as President and Managing Director of Toyota Great Britain.
