Toyota Australia Recalls C-HR Vehicles due to Towbar Label

Toyota Australia has today announced that it will initiate a recall involving 30,341 C-HR vehicles produced between December 2016 to October 2021. In the Australian market, there are a total of 826 affected Toyota Genuine Accessory Towbars that may be fitted to these vehicles.

This recall is an administration matter relating to towbar label information only.

The involved vehicles may be equipped with a genuine accessory towbar that was supplied without fitment of an ECE55 Type Approval label, which is required to comply with Australian Design Rule 62/02.

For all involved vehicles, Warrnambool Toyota will inspect the vehicle and if fitted with a Toyota Genuine Accessory Towbar, affix the label free of charge to vehicle owners.

It is expected that it will take approximately 15 minutes to affix the label. However, depending upon Warrnambool Toyota work schedule, it may be necessary for the owner to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.

Toyota Australia will provide all owners of involved vehicles details of this recall campaign by mail to their last known address. Owners are asked to keep their contact details up to date with Toyota so future communications can be received.

Owners of vehicles not fitted with a Toyota Genuine Accessory Towbar will be able to complete a form provided with the owner letter to formally advise that their vehicle is not fitted with the accessory. Alternatively, owners may choose to have Warrnambool Toyota inspect if a Towbar is fitted.

Owners whose vehicle is within the affected range but is not fitted with a Toyota Genuine Accessory Towbar will be able to complete a form provided with the owner letter to formally advise that their vehicle is not fitted with a Towbar. Alternatively, owners may choose to have a Warrnambool Toyota inspect if a Towbar is fitted.

Q6. When will the labels become available for this recall?
A6. Labels are now available to complete this campaign.

Q7. Can I continue to drive my vehicle until the label is affixed?
A7. Yes, you can continue to drive your vehicle, however we request owners to get in contact with Warrnambool Toyota to arrange the label to be affixed.
