Toyota Motor Corporation Australia Limited (TMCA) today reported an after-tax profit of $279 million for the financial year ended 31 March 2025.
The result was achieved off the back of strong sales and increased supply for both Toyota and Lexus that resulted in a combined total of 256,827 customer deliveries – an increase of 10,438 (4.2 per cent) of new passenger cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles compared with FY24.
Hybrid and electrified vehicle deliveries for both brands continued to grow to a record high of 131,098 – an increase of 36,246 (38.2 percent) compared with FY24 – to make up 51 per cent of the total combined sales.
TMCA President and CEO Matthew Callachor said the FY25 financial results reflected the strong relationship the company had with its parent company and its extensive dealer network, and its multi-pathway approach to decarbonisation that includes hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), battery-electric (BEV), fuel cell electric (FCEV), and internal combustion engines.
“Australian customers have firmly embraced our decarbonisation strategy with record deliveries of hybrid and electrified vehicles in FY25 for both Toyota and Lexus, that accounted for more than 50 per cent of our combined sales for the very first time,” Mr Callachor said.
“While we continue to grow our mix of battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles with recent announcements on the forthcoming Toyota bZ4X Touring, RAV4 plug-in hybrid, first-ever Lexus ES BEV and upgraded Lexus RZ, our proven hybrid technology has broad appeal for the Australian market.
“This is supported by our extensive dealer network of sales and service outlets and parts warehouses across the country, ensuring our Australian customers have the support they need, wherever they are,” he said.
With supply of new vehicles returning to normal levels, Toyota delivered a total of 242,855 vehicles to customers in FY25 (12,295 more than FY24) of which 120,186 (49.5 per cent) were hybrid or electrified.
Lexus dealers delivered a total of 13,972 vehicles in FY25, with the vast majority – 10,912 (78.1 per cent) – being hybrid, plug-in hybrid or battery electric passenger cars and SUVs as the luxury brand continues to flourish through its multi-pathway approach.
The TMCA profit was underpinned by ongoing strong demand for new vehicles and was further boosted by the sale of Toyota’s former design and engineering site at 61 Bertie Street, Port Melbourne.
Under its commitment to providing 1 per cent of pre-tax profit to support social investment, TMCA provided $3.5 million in FY25 to a range of charities and not-for-profit organisations.
In 2025, Toyota was once again recognised as one of Australia’s most trusted brands and reaffirmed its position as the most trusted automotive brand, reflecting its enduring reputation for quality, reliability, and customer-first service across Australia.
